Shawn & Brittany
invite you to celebrate their love & commitment at 3:33 in the afternoon at the beautiful Mill Pond Park in Bishop, Ca.
.
In true adventure-loving fashion, Shawn & Brittany will exchange vows during an intimate mountain elopement in Yosemite's Tuolumne Meadows on July 19th. Though the ceremony will be held quietly among the mountains, they would be honored to celebrate this joyful beginning with the people they love most. Please join them for an evening of love, laughter, feasting, and a viewing of their wedding commitment ceremony film as the sun fades and the stars begin to shine.
We're so grateful for you
We’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with the people we love most. Bishop and the Eastern Sierra have become such a meaningful part of our story, and we can’t imagine a better place to gather with our family & friends than surrounded by the mountains, open skies, and beauty of this place we call home.
Because many of you will be traveling to celebrate with us, we wanted this website to be a helpful place to find the details you’ll need. Where to stay, what to expect, how to prepare for the weather, and a few ideas for enjoying the area while you’re here. Mid-October in the Eastern Sierra can be warm and sunny during the day, but chilly once the sun drops and up in the mountains, so bring layers and come ready for a little mountain magic.
Most of all, we’re grateful that you’re making the journey to be here with us. Your presence means the world, and we can’t wait to share this beautiful place, this special weekend, and the beginning of our marriage with you.
Your Presence & Kindness
Your presence is the greatest treasure we could wish for. We feel incredibly fortunate to have so many people making the journey to celebrate with us. Your love, support, and showing up mean more than anything, and there is absolutely no expectation beyond that.
Should you wish to bestow a gift, a contribution toward building our future would be most cherished. Since we don’t need many traditional household items, we’re keeping things simple with PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle. Any gift is appreciated more than you know.
Attire
An evening beneath the mountains calls for attire that is both comfortable and uniquely you. As we will be celebrating outdoors in a park, practical footwear is encouraged (your heels may thank you). Think elegant with a touch of mountain ease. Don’t forget warm clothes for when the sun leaves us.
Weather and Terrain
Late October is one of the most beautiful times of the year in not only Bishop, but the surrounding mountains as well. Temperatures can vary wildly between the warmer Owens Valley where Bishop resides and the cooler High Sierra in our backyard. Bishop is on average experiencing highs in the mid 70's, but it could just as easily be anywhere between the 50's to 80's depending on how Mother Nature feels. Nights and early mornings will be cool in the valley and cold in the mountains. October is known to be the least windy month of the year, but be prepared none the less.
Accomodations
Accommodations range from an assortment of hotels and motels with a few nice AirBnb options to paid and free camping in the region. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like any advice on where to stay.
Directions
When you turn off of Sawmill road, stay to the left and follow the road back to the far parking lot over multiple speed bumps. You'll see a bathroom adjacent to the parking lot, and just beyond you'll see the decorated Pavillion area where we'll be. Click on the link to the parking area below to open in Google Maps:

Mexican - Amigos for creative dishes with amazing chips & salsa, Taquería mi Guadalajara is our favorite taco truck, Taqueria Las Palmas for authentic classic dishes, Crearee is a nice little market with tacos and bowls.
Asian - Wonderland Chinese, Thai Thai, Gojira Sushi & Ramen, Yamatani, Thai at Whiskey Creek
American - Holy Smokes BBQ, Whiskey Creek, Indiego Tasting House, Aaron Schat's Roadhouse, Mountain Rambler Brewery
Black Sheep for our favorite coffee & cappuccinos in town with modern lighter and medium roasts, Little Looney for the best dirty chai, Pupfish for a complete cafe & good coffee, Looney Bean for great food with dark roasted coffee if that's your thing, Great Basin is the local's bakery, Schats Bakery is for the tourists but is an experience for sure.
Grocery Outlet has great prices and we shop here the most, but it doesn't have everything. Manor Market is a local hidden gem and we love it, plus it's the closest and great for grabbing a few things if you don't need a full grocery run. Vons is the largest supermarket in town, and Smart & Final is a unique option with lots of bulk food and restaurant supplies.
C5 Studios Community Arts Center is a local gem and one of our favorite sources for community. The Inyo Council of the Arts is also a nice little gallery space with some local art. Elevated is a nice gift shop who carry local artist's work. The Bishop Information Center is worth checking out. If you like antiques, you have to check out Antique Peddler. And if you love deals and thrifting like we do, the Gear Exchange has second hand outdoor gear, you have to check out The Sierra Thrift Mall, and St Timothy's Attic can sometimes surprise you.

Bishop Creek Canyon, Lake Sabrina, North Lake & South Lake
You can drive up into the mountains, see stunning fall color, lakes, granite peaks, and alpine scenery without committing to a big hike. Great for a scenic drive, lake side exploring, and small to as big as you want hikes.

Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest
For a one-of-a-kind Eastern Sierra experience, visit the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains, home to some of the oldest living trees on earth and incredible high-desert mountain views. This is higher elevation and a longer mountain drive, so view it as a half-day adventure rather than a quick stop.

Mammoth Lakes, June Lake, & Convict Lake
If you have extra time, Mammoth Lakes and June Lake are both worth visiting about 45 minutes to an hour north of Bishop. Mammoth has mountain views, lakes, restaurants, and shops, while June Lake offers a quieter mountain village and scenic loop with beautiful alpine lake views and gorgeous fall color. Convict Lake is as gorgeous as a drive up alpine lake comes, and has a nice trail along the shore or even around the lake.

The Alabama Hills & the Museum of Western Film History
About an hour south of Bishop, Lone Pine is a great half-day trip. You can visit the Museum of Western Film History, then drive into the nearby Alabama Hills to see the dramatic rock formations, desert scenery, and sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada and Mt. Whitney.

Mono Lake & Bodie
For a longer day trip, head north toward Lee Vining to visit Mono Lake, one of the most unique landscapes in California. The South Tufa area has an easy interpretive trail along the lakeshore, with strange limestone formations, wide-open desert views, and a completely different feeling from the Sierra high country. If you have more time, continue on to Bodie State Historic Park, a preserved ghost town north of Mono Lake with historic buildings and a fascinating glimpse into California’s mining era. This is best planned as a half-day to full-day outing,

Tioga Pass & Tuolumne
The drive over Tioga Pass into Yosemite’s high country is one of the most beautiful routes in the Sierra. From the east side, you can explore the Tuolumne Meadows and Tenaya Lake region, with granite domes, alpine meadows, clear mountain water, and sweeping high country views. This area feels very different from both Yosemite Valley & the Eastern Sierra and is a stunning way to experience the quieter, more expansive side of Yosemite National Park.

Bishop Attractions
The Bishop Paiute Cultural Center offers an important look into the culture, history, and living traditions of the Bishop Paiute Tribe. It’s a meaningful stop for guests who want to better understand the Indigenous history of the Owens Valley and the Eastern Sierra.
Laws Railroad Musuem is a fun and easy lower-key option for families, or anyone who likes history. It’s close to town, easy to access, and gives you a sense of the Owens Valley’s railroad and pioneer history.

Local Hot Springs
For a relaxing soak close to town, visit Keough’s Hot Springs south of Bishop. Keough’s is a local business established in 1919 and is described by Visit Bishop as the largest natural hot springs pool in the Eastern Sierra.
For a more adventurous outing, consider the natural hot springs out in nature near Mammoth like Hilltop or Wild Willies.
