Best Yosemite Elopement Locations by Group Size

Wedding ceremony at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park.Choosing where to elope in Yosemite isn’t just about the view (though let’s be honest, they’re all incredible). It’s also about accessibility, privacy, guest count, and seasonal availability.

Whether it’s just the two of you or you’re inviting a small group of loved ones, Yosemite has a variety of designated intimate wedding and elopement ceremony locations that can make your day feel personal, stress-free, and spectacular.

In this guide, we’ll break down the best Yosemite elopement locations based on how many people you plan to include—so you can find the perfect fit.

🧍‍♀️ Just the Two of You (Up to 2 People Total)

If you’re planning an elopement with no guests and no formal ceremony setup, you have the most flexibility. While a permit is still required for any wedding or vow exchange in the park, the locations open to you are expansive.

Some of our favorite spots for 2-person elopements:

  • Tuolumne Meadows region (summer only) – Dreamy, alpine serenity in our favorite area of the park. Ask us about Tuolumne, you won’t regret it.
  • Taft Point (Late spring through Fall) – Incredible sunset views, adventurous vibe, and possibly the most famous Yosemite elopement location.
  • Glacier Point (quiet overlook area) – Epic Half Dome backdrop with stunning sunrise light, and the perfect complimentary to Taft. Ask is how to do both.
  • Artist Overlook at sunrise or sunset – Iconic Yosemite Valley view with no crowds. This is our favorite off the radar Yosemite Valley location.
  • Hiking from the Tioga Road – Access Yosemite Valley’s north rim or the stunning Tuolumne high country. Ask us about our favorite hike-in locations.

🗓️ No seating or decor allowed—just you, the mountains, and your vows.

👩‍❤️‍👨 + A Few Loved Ones (Up to 10 People Total)

This size still offers the same flexibility as just the two of you. Any party that is under 10 people total (including us and the officiant) can go anywhere in the park that people are generally allowed. But some locations are certainly better than others when you have a slightly larger group.

Great elopement ceremony spots for up to 10 people:

  • Glacier Point – There are quite a few different amazing ceremony locations in this region, and it really sings at sunrise.
  • Taft Point – Half hour hike to outrageous edge of The Valley views with the best sunsets.
  • Artist Overlook – Quieter than Tunnel View, with dreamy light and a short approach to wide opens views without the crowds.
  • Tuolumne Region Dome Top (seasonal) – Imagine sweeping summit views, expansive flat granite, and short hikes to private, scenic ceremony locations.

🌿 We help guide you to semi-private areas where a small group won’t overwhelm the natural setting.

👨‍👩‍👧 Small Intimate Weddings (Up to 20 People)

Once your group size exceeds 10, your options narrow, but there are still several beautiful designated sites.

Top Yosemite wedding ceremony sites for small groups:

  • Glacier Point Amphitheater – The most famous location with Half Dome views. It’s amazing and you’re going to see it listed multiple times.
  • Cathedral Beach – Beautiful views of El Cap along the Merced River. Late afternoon here is prime.
  • Tenaya Lake – A gorgeous alpine lake with easy access and amazing views of the Tuolumne high country.
  • Swinging Bridge Picnic Area – Open feel, river ambiance, and great views of Yosemite Falls when it’s in season.

📝 Note: You must use pre-approved sites for groups over 10. We’ll help you select the best one and handle the permit process.

👪 Weddings With Up to 50 Guests

Planning something closer to a traditional micro-wedding? Yosemite still welcomes you—just with a few more logistical considerations.

Ceremony sites that accommodate up to 50 guests:

  • Glacier Point Amphitheater – The most famous location with Half Dome views. It really is incredible.
  • The Ahwahnee Lawn – if you’re having your reception at the Ahwahnee, having your ceremony on the lawn is a no brainer.
  • Cathedral Beach Picnic Area – Accessible, flat, with a stunning natural backdrop. Late afternoon is best.
  • Tenaya Lake Beach (Tuolumne, summer only) – Serene, gorgeous lakeside with mountain views
  • Tuolumne Meadows Lodge Area (Summer only) – Beautiful granite slabs on the Tuolumne River

📍 Many of these locations offer room for chairs, arches (with approval), and more flexibility.

🎯 Final Thoughts on Choosing the Right Spot

  • We know the lesser-known gems. If you’re looking for privacy and a custom experience, we’ll suggest spots not on the standard map if 10 people or less.
  • Consider the season. Glacier Point and Tuolumne are only accessible late spring to mid-fall. Valley locations are year-round.
  • Start with your vision. Do you want mountains? Waterfalls? Meadows? Sunrise? Sunset? We’ll help you match the feel of your day to the perfect location.
