Saving a School Through Art

I had a really cool opportunity to shoot some images of a super cool art project in inner city Baltimore. My Dad’s good friend Jay Wolf Schlossberg-Cohen, a renowned artist has initiated a wonderful project to help save a school through art and community involvement. He has helped save a school that was going to be closed in inner city Baltimore by getting the community involved and and painting huge murals with the children of the school and other members of the community on the schools inner hallways and walls. This has transformed the environment of the school and helped to bring the community together. Jay oversaw the painting of the murals and made sure it all came together, but the community did much of the painting with him.
My dad and I went down to visit him one day while he was working in the school on their Christmas break. He was looking for ideas on how to hang some huge art banners so we all brainstormed and got some great ideas. It was really cool to see what Jay’s doing and how its making a difference. So inspiring!
