Last week I went down into the Owens River Gorge to shoot some pics of my good friend Jay Lakey walk a long highline that he put up in the inner part of the gorge. It was incredible to watch him go out over the abyss with a raging river below. He wore a tether for safety in case he fell, but even with that its gotta be so wild to be out there. He took some falls for sure but has walked all the way across several times. Unbelievable. Its like 140 feet across!

While we were walking out of the gorge, we came across an awesome vantage of world class climber and super nice Bishop local Lisa Rands climbing a brilliant route out the huge Eldorodo Roof. It was so impressive to see her climb so smooth and strong. Amazing.

I hope everyone has had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I had a lot of good friends in town over the weekend, and even met some really cool locals I hadn’t met before. It was awesome and so refreshing. One of the couple’s who’s wedding I shot this year, Ngoc and Dave, were among the friends in town. They came with their friend John, and we all spent a day together climbing out at the Buttermilks, where Ngoc, Dave, and I also shot their e-session this past spring. It was so fun to spend some time together out climbing and hanging. I got some killer shots of Dave and John doing a super classic way high ball boulder problem on the southwest arete of the famous Grandma Peabody boulder. Its way off the ground, yet Dave and John styled it with grace and elegance. Enjoy the pics and I hope you’re well!

I’m so unbelievably excited to share that Rangefinder Magazine did a feature article on me and it just came out!!! Rangefinder is the biggest magazine in the US for professional photographers, so I was beyond honored when they called me up and asked if I would mind being interviewed for their magazine. I have to give a huge shout out to Frank Simon for encouraging them to check out my work. Frank is an AMAZING photographer living in Arizona, and someone I respect immensely, and share a kindred spirit with. You should really check out his work, its out of this world.

My dear friend Eduardo came over today and we got a couple pictures of him for the music site. We’ve been playing music a lot together over the last few years, and he’s been the main person I’ve been working with recording for my own music.

Its really cool, we both play acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and know how to work the drums, and we just work so well together with each of us playing lots of different instruments throughout all our songs. Some songs he’ll do the bass and drums, and I’ll do the guitars, or he’ll be on acoustic with me on electric, or me on bass and him on guitar, you get the picture. It’s really fun and lets us keep things fresh by playing different instruments.

Not only is Eduardo an amazing musician, he’s a world class climber. He grew up in Brazil, and came here to the US, and in particular Bishop here, because of the world class climbing everywhere. He is amazing to watch climb; just unbelievable how smoothly and with such power that he moves over stone.

So in his couple of times visiting and he met and fell in love with a dear friend of mine Kelley, and now they have a beautiful family with their baby Mateos, and Kelley’s kids Naya and Cody.

Just wanted to share some shots I got today that will be up on the music site in the artist’s bios soon. Since I was at it I figured I also share some other shots I have of Eduardo since he’s just an all around amazing person.

So today started a little earlier than usual with my alarm going off (can’t remember the last time I heard an alarm go off) at 5:30 am. I awoke excited to meet Ngoc and Dave, and we went up to the Buttermilks for some luscious morning light for their engagement photos. Ngoc and Dave came in to Bishop for the weekend from San Francisco to enjoy the warm sunshine amidst some of the worlds best bouldering and for us to shoot their e-session. They’ll be getting married at the Edgewood Resort on Lake Tahoe this August, and I’m so excited for their wedding!

This morning was so peaceful and we were the only people out there for a while. After we got their engagement photos, they changed clothes and we played in the boulders for a few hours. Ngoc and Dave are really good climbers, so they’re loving being here in Bishop with so much beautiful rock. Dave even did the Iron Man Traverse for his first time, which he’d tried in the past, so he was psyched! It was so nice to have such an early start and it felt so good to be outside.

Ngoc and Dave, it was so great to meet you and hang out today, and I’m so excited for your wedding!

With the spring in full action, the call of a favorite past time of mine is starting to stir within. I love rock climbing, and was just looking through some cool shots from years past getting inspired, so I thought I’d share a few. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of moving over stone, and its something I haven’t been doing very much lately because I’ve been so consumed with work, especially trying to get Shawn Reeder Music.com ready, which should be up in just a few days.

Some of my friends are some of the best climbers in the world, so its always so cool to catch them in action and to capture the exposure of some of the amazing places we get to go.
